Yesterday we joined Westtoer for an exploration in the beautiful and peaceful Lampernisse and Fintele. As part of the theme “Landscapes Feel Flanders Fields”, we received fascinating expert explanations during a guided walk. We discovered the typical landscape of bowl fields and how people have coexisted with the IJzer river for centuries, still relevant today.
From Lampernisse’s church tower, accessible daily free of charge, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the entire Westhoek. We braved rain and wind before warming up with a delicious meal in restaurant “Zannekin”.
As icing on the cake, an exclusive storytelling musical concert based on local stories from World War I was presented in Lampernisse church.
